Skoda launched the upgraded model of its premium sedan in India. The new Superb is priced at Rs. 18.8 lakh and will have only one variant in the country. The new sedan is available at the discounted price for the Indian customers as older models are available at Rs. 20.1 lakh and Rs. 22.7 lakh.
"India is an extremely price sensitive market. One of our challenges was to get the price right so as to make the product a value proposition," said Thomas Kuehl, Skoda India’s board member. The company aims to achieve four figure sales in this fiscal year and plan to achieve top position in the premium sedan market segment.
The Skoda comes with 1.8L turbocharged diesel producing 160bhp in the range of 4500-6200rpm. It also has front and rear parking sensor, pedal shift for the 7-speed gearbox and 8-front and rear seat airbags. The company is not only looking re-working at price of its models but also on launching new models like Yeti and a new variant of Laura in India this year.
