Skoda has officially announced that its new SUV will be called the Kodiaq. A production version of the VisionS concept SUV, which was showcased last year, it will stand alongside the Superb in Skoda’s vehicle lineup.

Skoda Kodiaq

It has been named the Kodiaq after an Alaskan bear and follows in the footsteps of the Yeti which has got its name from the mythical biped said to be living in the forests of America. The vehicle was showcased with the front and rear camouflaged at a Skoda dealer event last month.

It will be a seven-seater vehicle and measures in 4.70 metres. The car is expected to get the same engine, underpinnings and feature list from the Superb sedan. However, this car is also expected  to get a new hybrid setup from Skoda, a first from the Czech automaker. The Kodiaq will debut in the second half of 2016 and officially go on sale in the beginning of 2017.
