      New Peugeot Citroen Sedan to Venture Into India

      Right after 10 years of its exit from India, Europe’s second largest car assembler the French Peugeot Citroen has finally announced its plans to re-enter in India. Previously, the company’s JV with PAL failed working-out and ended up so soon; no doubt the launched Peugeot 309 was a superb vehicle. This time Peugeot will initially bring a midsized sedan to India, that too being all alone having no other partners with it, the production too will be done locally in India.

      Georgoire Oliver, Executive- VP Asia said “India is a key market and this new implantation reflects our ambition to become a global player. In China, we offer Indian customers vehicles adapted to their expectations.”

      Headquarters of PSA Peugeot Citroen too has been shifted from Chennai to Mumbai; so, from now on all the Indian operations will be led from Mumbai. Mr. Oliver Quoted “Rajesh Nellore, Managing Director India, is leading the Group’s activities in India from Mumbai.”

      Rajesh Nellore, who was designated as Managing Director, India two year back to look after Indian projects setting up an office in Chennai, will now pilot Indian operations from Mumbai. The company finds the Indian market amongst the hottest ones across the world, which according to them will help out brand to do well non-Europe too turning its 39% existing total sales to 50 % off-Europe.
