The new generation version of Italian car maker Fiat’s popular car Palio has been launched in the Brazilian market. The 2012 Fiat Palio carries a price tag of $17,700 (Rs 8.67 lakh) in that market. The new Palio is claimed to be better in performance as well as safety as compared to its previous version.
The car has been rolled-out in three variants including 1.6L E.torQ, Fire 1.4L EVO and Fire 1.0L EVO. While the Fire 1.4L EVO and Fire 1.0L EVO models come equipped with five speed manual transmission, the 1.6L E.torQ variant carries semiautomatic transmission from Fiat named as Dualogic. The new Palio is higher, longer and wider as compared to its predecessor.
According to company, before reaching the final product, the car maker tested over 526 different trial products. In addition, engineers and designers of this Italian car maker have spent more than 824,000 hours in developing the car. According to the company, its test drivers have completed over 1 million miles in the 2012 Palio model in different extreme weather conditions.
It has been over two decades since Fiat Palio has been there in the Fiat’s global portfolio. In Brazil alone, the car maker has sold over 2.5 million units of Palio hatchbacks till now.
