Tata Motors is ready to unveil its brand new crossover model, Tata Xover, at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo in 2010. The company intends to launch the model in India by mid-2010. The car will be pitted against Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and Chevrolet Tavera. The new model is expected to be placed between Sumo Grande and Safari Dicor SUV models from Tata Motors.
The expected price of the seven seater model is Rs. 6-8 lakh. Tata Motors will display the production ready model of Tata Xover at the Expo. Tata had first showcased the model at the Geneva Motors Show 2005. The new model of Tata Xover will be laden with new generation engine and navigation systems. The model has been created with large design inputs from London-based Tata Motors European Technical Center. The same design center had designed the model of world’s cheapest car, Tata Nano. The new model is currently under testing phase in western India.
Apart from Tata Xover, Tata Motors is also expected to showcase Tata Prima which is its luxury concept sedan. However, the model is not expected to go into production soon. The model has been designed by the Italian car design firm Pinanfarina and was showcased earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show.
