The recently reinforced ban on over 15 years old vehicle in Delhi also seemed to have an affect on the upcoming vintage car rally due to be held this Sunday in the capital. As a reliever, the National Green Tribunal has finally agreed to make an exception to allow these classic cars to ply for the event. Based on the plea by Heritage Motoring Club Of India, the bench, headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, has agreed to allow smooth organizing of ITC Grand Bharat Inaugural vintage car rally that is due to be held on March 1st.
Speaking more the occasion, the bench said, “In the meanwhile, by an interim direction, we permit one-time event of the vintage car ITC rally to be held on March 1, 2015. None of the vintage cars would be otherwise permitted to ply on the road except during the sports event, nor any authority would issue fitness certificates to them without the specific order of the tribunal.” With all the necessary clearances in place now, more than 30 years old vehicles can ply on city roads for the purpose of rallies, exhibition and other occasions due for Sunday.
