Nano bookings are due to close on 25th April 2009. As per the general consensus, the Nano bookings are expected to cross the 10 lakh mark which will be a record in the history of Indian automobile industry.
Nano can be booked at any of the Tata dealerships or via online submission. The customers can make part payment or opt for bank finance. According to various industry sources, a large chunk of customers have coughed up entire amount for the booking Nano ranging from Rs. 95,000 to Rs. 140,000. Most of these buyers are from smaller cities and towns that have booked the car by paying in full.
Now the Tata Motors has to pass the delivery test which is the most difficult part for the company. Tata Motors will be able to produce only 50,000 cars in the first year from its interim plant in Pantnagar. It will be able to commence its full production after its mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat gets operational next year.
One of the biggest coincidences is that Maruti 800 is gradually being phased out from India due to its non-compliance status with BS-4 norms. More customers are likely to switch to Nano as their first car.
