MV Agusta eyeing 10 per cent market share of superbike segment

Having made its official entry in the Indian market, MV Agusta is now looking to capture a 10 per cent share of the superbike segment in the country. Speaking during the launch event in Pune, Ajinkya Firodiya, MD, MV Agusta India, expressed confidence of achieving this target over the next couple of years.

As of now, the superbike market space in India generates around 7,000 units in volumes, annually. Of these, MV Agusta aims to capture a 10 per cent share. While the company’s Indian subsidiary has only been allotted 300 units for the first year, this number is expected to go up depending upon the demand. MV Agusta will hope to attract the country’s uber rich clientele with the brand’s exotic appeal and its rich legacy of producing fascinating motorcycles.

MV Agusta has entered the Indian market in association with Pune-based Kinetic Group. According to the agreement, the Kinetic Group will be responsible for providing spares, service and aftersales support for MV Agusta customers in India. With the first Motoroyale showroom coming up in Pune, MV Agusta is going to further strengthen its network by launching five more stores across the country.

MV Agusta is also planning to enhance its current SKD assembly line at Kinetic’s factory in Ahmednagar into a full-fledged CKD production line. The MV Agusta F3 800 will be the first model to be produced through the CKD route, which might be followed by the yet to be launched 2016 Brutale 800.
