Mumbaikers were in for a treat on Sunday when 43 super cars rolled out on the streets of the city. The onlookers were left gaping at Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, Bentleys, Rolls-Royces, BMWs, Audis, the Lotus Elise and the higher-end range of Mercedes on parade on Sunday morning.
There were two shows organized in Mumbai this Sunday. the Vintage Car and Motor Cycle Fiesta kicked off outside the Trident, Nariman Point, at 10 am, while the maiden Supercar Show revved up at 11 am in the Kala Ghoda locality.
Vintage and Classic Car Club of India (V.C.C.C.I.) on Sunday hosted the annual rally with more than 100 rare vintage cars participating in the show, some of which dated way back to 1900. "The next generation children should know what we had because this is the only time when the cars come out and people watch," said V.C.C.C.I. member, Nitin Dossa. He also stated that the main aim of such an event was to familiarize the future generation with the old heritage of automobiles. On the other hand more than 150 bikes and cars gleamed under sun on Nariman Point early morning.
Businessman Parvez Damania was at the Vintage fiesta in his rust and white Buick Roadmaster (1947). "You know it's a juggle to be at both places. As soon as I can I'm going to rush to my Merdedes SLK 350 to the other show," he said.
India's formula racing hero Narain Karthikeyan flagged off the Supercar Show, which saw 40 cars zoom from Kala Ghoda to Siddhi Vinayak Temple at Dadar and back.
