MRF, one of the leading tyre manufacturers in the Indian market, is planning to sponsor motor sports outside the country.
It has been more than 20 years since the company is kart racing in the Indian market with continuously being associated with motorsports. The company had launched MRF Challenge racing series in the country in year 2010. Many teams sponsored by MRF have won championships at both domestic and international levels.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of new Formula 2000, Arun Mammen, Managing Director, said, “The MRF Challenge series helps demonstrate our tyre technology, while also building the brand. We plan to take this event outside India next year – to West Asia and South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia).”
The company has a car manufacturing partnership with Italian company Automobili Dallara and France based Renault-Sport. While further elaborating, Mr. Mammen said, “These two companies are world leaders in their respective fields. The single-seater car is made of carbon fibre, not steel or aluminum, for ultimate safety. It gives a top speed of 260 km an hour.”
