Mercedes India leads the luxury car segment in the country and has laid new plans to sell at least 5000 units this year. "We have already sold 4,221 cars till September and crossing the 5,000-mark this year is not impossible," Mercedes India Director (sales) Debabhis Mitra said today, while launching pre-owned car business brand 'Proven Exclusivity' in Kolkata.

Mercedes agrees to the buoyancy of car market in India and hopes to expand its market share further. It owns a pre-owned car business in India called Proven Exclusivity and it has sold around 400 cars in four cities where it has its pre-owned car outlets. "We expect to do a business of 500 cars from the pre-owned cars segment. Second hand cars business would account for close to 10 per cent of the new car business, but it may increase to 15 per cent in the next one to two years," Mitra said. Proven Exclusivity outlets do not consider cars more than six years or age or with more than 60,000 miles of run.
