Mercedes-Benz’s next-gen E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet have been caught testing. The 2017 E-Class range will make its American debut at next year’s Detroit Motor Show. It will exhibit the new Mercedes-Benz family face and introduce the latest generation of the German automaker's mid-size sedan to the American market.

Based on the MRA rear-wheel-drive modular architecture, the E-Class Coupe will get a roomier interior and a practical boot.It will have the same engine options as the E-Class Sedan and the Estate. The 3.0-litre inline-six engine or the four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines can power the new E-Class Coupe. Also for the first time ever, the E-Class Coupe will receive the full-blown AMG treatment.

As far as the E-Class Cabrio is concerned, the drop-top E-Class will get a fabric roof and is expected to be unveiled after the Coupe. It will carry the same design style as the Coupe and also get the same engine options. The Cabrio, unlike its predecessor, will receive the AMG treatment as well. It will sit in between the C-Class Cabrio and S-Class Cabrio both of which were launched in India recently.

The Indian launch of both the car is unclear, as Mercedes-Benz hasn't even introduced the current generation of the E-Class to India yet. So expect the German brand to bring in the entire range of its premium sedan to the India sometime next year.
