The multiple rounds of negotiations between Maruti’s Manesar plant management and workers failed to reach any conclusive. On Wednesday, the total production at Gurgaon and Manesar plant dipped to 1850 units, as compared to production level of 4000 units per day in normal conditions. The latest in the series of strikes in last few months entered in its 13th day on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the management and striking workers are expected to reach an agreement on Thursday, as claimed by the company sources. The breakthrough is expected to be achieved as car maker has softened its stand of reinstatement of casual workers along with taking back a few sacked permanent workers.

The firm raised the number of workers to 600 on Wednesday as compared to 400 workers on Tuesday. Rolling-out 300 units of Swift model from its plants, the company is looking forward to reach the production level of 1000 swift models per day, so that the mounting order backlog can be matched up to a certain extent.

The production remained partially halted at the Gurgaon plant of the company where it managed to produce 1650 units of its cars on Wednesday as compared to normal production level of 2800 cars pr day. There is a acute shortage of essential components at the Maruti’s plants as the workers at key component supplier SPIL (Suzuki Power train India Limited) are also on a strike in support of Manesar plant workers.
