      Marutis Braces Itself with Bigger Plans for Indian Market

      Mr Suzuki, chairman of Suzuki, had commented earlier this year that 2010 will be a tough year for MSIL but this does not mean that the company is lying low. Every second car sold in India is a Maruti Suzuki model and MSIL intends to keep it that way be expanding and improvising its portfolio. Maruti is planning to introduce CNG variants of Ritz and Estilo later this year. Currently, it has CNG variant of Maruti Alto in its production portfolio.

      MSIL currently sells CNG variants in Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat where there is enough infrastructural support for CNG vehicles. With more states gearing up for alternative fuel, Maruti is quite hopeful of the selling more vehicles across the country. It is also intends to introduce CNG variant of Maruti Eeco in India.

      The company is also planning to another 200 dealerships in India looking at the demand in the auto market. "Our intention is to take up the number of outlets to 1,000 this fiscal," said company's Chief General Manager (Marketing), Shashank Srivastava. "We have gained good ground in the rural market and we will continue on that," he stated further.
