Maruti introduced its “Maruti Gramin Mahotsav” in the eastern parts of India to tap the rural market segment customers in the country. The new scheme has been introduced since past six months to market Maruti products to clients in rural India. There are four more carnivals that will be held in India in the current fiscal.

"We do such Mahotsavs or rural car carnivals to increase awareness of the Maruti brand and dealerships in a particular region," said Anabel Praveen Tiga, territory sales manager of Maruti Suzuki (I) Ltd. Such schemes mainly targets customers like Panchayat members, teachers, tractor owners, doctors and rural traders. "These carnivals started just six months back across India. Till now, 60 have been held across the country and six in the state to increase rural market sales," said Anirban Mukherjee, Rural Marketing Manager of the car major.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is India’s largest car manufacturer and exporter. It presently enjoys more than 50 percent market share in the small car segment in India. The eastern region presently constitutes 13 percent to the total turnover of the company. It aims to take it to 20 percent by next fiscal.
