Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most successful models in the Indian car market. MSIL’s recent announcement endorses the fact that Swift remains one of the hottest selling models in the small car segment: Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced that Maruti Swift has crossed 4.5 lakh unit sales figures.

"The Swift was launched in India on May 25, 2005. Nearly 16,000 customers had placed advance orders for the Swift even before it was unveiled and its price made public. In these five years, more than 4.5 lakh Swift cars have been sold in India," the company said in a statement.

The company finds it difficult to produce enough models according the demand in the domestic market. The petrol model has a waiting period of at least 2-3 months while the diesel model has waiting period of up to 4 months. Still the customers are ready to wait for the model to get the delivery to Maruti Swift. Maruti has already upgraded Swift’s petrol model with its new 1.2L K-series engine.

MSIL has already ramped up production of Swift including the diesel model up to 12000 units per month from its initial capacity of 5000 units per month.
