Maruti Suzuki India Limited organized a simultaneous parade in three major cities of India – Mumbai, Gurgaon and Chennai, and created a new Guinness Book by parading 342 Maruti Swift models in Gurgaon. "Maruti Suzuki has set a new Guinness Book of World Records by bringing together 342 Swift cars at a car parade in Gurgaon," the company said in a statement. "Today's world record is a testimony to the ever-growing popularity of the Swift. The new record is a victory for all the 4.5 lakh Swift owners," Maruti Suzuki executive officer for sales and marketing Mayank Pareek said.
Maruti also held a parade in Sriperumbudur near Chennai and in Mumbai but did not manage to achieve such record. Maruti currently manufactures 12,000 Swift cars per month and it has recently achieved 4.5 lakh units sales figure. MSIL is celebrating its fifth year of Maruti Swift in the country. It currently offers model with 1.2L petrol engine option and 1.3L DDiS engine option.
