India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new premium hatchback in the country by the end of 2015. Codenamed YRA, the premium hatchback will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2015. It is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show; however, nothing concrete on the same has been revealed yet. To be positioned above the Swift hatchback, the new car will rival against the likes of Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and Skoda Fabia.

The YRA premium hatchback will be a global product from Suzuki, and is speculated to get 'Baleno' badge. The new hatchback will offer a spacious cabin to seat five adults, and lot more gizmos to play with. Also on offer would be the large luggage carrying capacity, which is missing in the current Swift hatchback.

The new YRA premium hatchback is also likely to offer excellent fuel efficiency. Likely to share its interiors and styling quotient with the Ciaz sedan, the hatchback is likely to be lighter and high on performance.

For the Indian market, the YRA premium hatchback would be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol version is likely to get a newly developed 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit, the oil burner is expected to be the tried & trusted Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multi-Jet unit.
