Maruti Suzuki India Limited seems all set to dominate the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. The exhibition will start on 7th February and the auto maker is geared up to display its disparate range, covering almost all segments. From the refurbished models of existing products to new arrivals, the company is packed with surprises. Most anticipated amidst the lot is XA Alpha, a compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which will mark the company's advent in respective segment.

It is widely believed that Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha will be incorporated with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Sources close to the development process have revealed that this engine has been recently developed by Suzuki and will replace the currently used Fiat's Multijet technology. Speculations are rife that a petrol version will also be offered at a later stage. Along with, Suzuki is also developing a variety of engines, namely 0.8-litre, 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre, to entice the audience. All these powertrains are expected to be incorporated in Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Ritz, Swift and Ertiga.

Notably, Maruti Suzuki has still not made an entry in the compact SUV segment wherein Renault and Ford are dominant. Interestingly, the recent launch of Nissan Terrano has also turned some heads and the upcoming year will be witnessing a multitude of companies in the same segment. Competition is expected to rise in such a situation and Indian buyers will perceive a marketing hustle by the respective auto companies.

Interestingly, Auto Expo 2014 will also be showcasing Maruti Suzuki Swift in a revamped version. Accompanying it would be the next generation model of A-star and a sedan based on SX4 codenamed YL1. With such an impressive upcoming line-up, the company is leaving no stone unturned to make the auto fiesta a grand success. Nothing has been divulged regarding the compact SUV but experts are of a view that Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha will make its way to the Indian showrooms and it will be of interest to see how the car performs finally.
