      Maruti Suzuki ventures into a crossover segment with the SX4 S-Cross

      Much awaited S-Cross has finally been unveiled by the India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo 2014. The car is expected to be powered with 1.6 litre petrol engine which is capable of delivering 120 PS of power with 156 Nm of torque. It is anticipated that SX4 crossover may also be available in a diesel version powered by Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine. On first look, the car reminds us of the good old car Suzuki Grand Vitara. The current version that was unveiled at Auto Expo 2014 seems to be similar to the one showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.

      Exact technical specifications have not been revealed for now and may be spoken in detail at a later date. As per sources, along with the two wheel drive option, the SX4 S-Cross is also expected to be an all 4 wheeled drive. Its fairly powered engine is mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Interiors of the car is fairly decent and comes with abundant leg and head room. Officials from Maruti Suzuki India, said, “'The SX-4 Cross is an outcome of this deliberation to create a new segment which is a natural upgrade for any car owner.”

      Maruti Suzuki S-Cross features a good amount of ground clearance, this seems to be coming from the generation old trend that the car-maker had been following. The car comes with some distinctive styling and looks a bit mature in this segment. The S-Cross displayed at the recently held Auto Expo event has received an impressive 5-star Euro NCAP rating for its overall safety. Pricing for the car has not been revealed for now by the Indian car-maker and it is anticipated that it may be revealed post the car goes on sale at a later date.

      At the recently held Auto Expo event in Delhi, the Indian car-maker also showcased its all new concept sedan named 'Ciaz'. At the event, speaking about these two showcased cars, Suzuki Motor, executive vice-president said, “In 2004, we had the first global model launch of Swift and these two are in line with that. The two cars we are unveiling today are aimed to meet the growing demand of sedans in India, China and elsewhere.”
