Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a fresh version of its Swift hatchback at the recently held Auto Expo 2014 event in Delhi. The new car from India's largest car-maker has been rechristened as 'Swift Sports'. The most recent line of Maruti Suzuki Swift was powered by a 1.2 litre petrol K-series engine. The new version seen at the Auto Expo event was launched in the Indonesian market in recent time and it is expected that the local version may be based on similar technical specifications.
The showcased version is powered by 1.6 liter VVT engine that generates an impressive 100 Ps of power with 160 Nm of torque. The engine shall be mated to a six speed gear box. As per sources, the hatchback is capable of attaining a top speed of 193 km/hr. Moreover, it is said that the hatchback can clock a 100 km/hr in an impressive 8.7 seconds. To give it a sporty appeal, the hatchback shall be available in three door and five door variants.
As per sources, Maruti Suzuki Sport is expected to be loaded with interesting safety features like ABS, EBD, ESP, side airbags, curtain airbags, dual front airbags and driver knee airbag. For good illumination the car is loaded with automatic headlights, headlamp washers and HID projector headlights. Furthermore, the Maruti Suzuki Swift sports interesting features like power folding wing mirrors, stainless steel sport pedals, key-less entry with engine start button, sports seats, and a Bluetooth compatible music system. Another version named 'Swift Volt' has also been showcased at the event. The motor in both the cars are refined and responds well to feet-tapping on the accelerator pedal.
Going by its long standing history, handling has never been a problem with Swift hatchbacks ever since its launch in early 2000's. Maruti Suzuki for now, has only showcased the car at the Auto Expo event. Exact date of launch shall be revealed sometime later during the year.
