India's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its Ritz hatchback with new design and several added features in the domestic market. The hatchback, which is sold as Suzuki Splash in UK and Japan, has been performing well in its respective segment in the individual countries. The car has been in the global market for some time and rightly needed a facelift. Maruti Suzuki launched the revamped Splash in UK at a price tag of 7,777 pounds around Rs. 6.70 lacs, placing it in the entry-level segment.

The car maker is offering the new facelifted model with two K-series petrol powertrains, including a 1 litre unit which is built to deliver 67.06 hp of power and a 1.2 litre powertrain that produces 91.72 hp. Maruti Suzuki has not launched any diesel variant in the European market. The Splash is available across three variants-SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4, which are available in two new colours, namely the sparkling blue metallic and bison brown pearl metallic.

Maruti has launched the facelifted Splash that boasts an all-new front, which includes a refreshed bumper, grille and fog lamp surround. At a glance, the new model of Splash appears to be a bit taller and slimmer, owing to many vertical lines incorporated in the exteriors. However, modifications are less in the rear as well as the interior so as to retain the novelty of the existing model.

The new version of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz is expected to hit the Indian market by the festive season. This can be said considering the fact that the Japanese partner has already replaced the earlier version in several overseas markets. However in India, the new car would not receive any modifications under the hood and will be powered by the same 1.2 litre K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre Multijet diesel powertrains. Though, Maruti Suzuki may optimise them to deliver a better mileage. It would not be surprising if the facelifted Ritz repeats the success of the previous model.
