Maruti Suzuki India Limited has put its expansion plans on fast track on nearly every front. The company is all geared to clear the pending back orders and reduce waiting time on its successful models. MSIL is also working on creating new dealerships and reaching out to people with more service centres across the country.

Maruti Suzuki will start producing more cars from its new Manesar plant from October 2011 which is six months ahead of the original schedule. This will reduce the capacity constraint for MSIL as the new capacity will be capable of producing nearly 250,000 units annually with an investment of Rs. 1700 crores. It will ramp up company’s production capacity to 15 lakh units annually by 2014. It already has a manufacturing capacity of 10 lakh units and will increase the capacity to 12 lakh units during this year. "We would be selling around 15,000-20,000 more cars per month if we have additional capacity given the confirmed bookings we currently enjoy," Maruti executive director (marketing & sales) Mayank Pareekh said.

Maruti also intends to increase its outlets to 1500 in next five years as against current 828 outlets in the country. The company is also looking at newer markets apart from Europe where it had enjoyed good selling numbers so far.
