Maruti Suzuki India limited, the largest car maker in the Indian market, is believed to be coming-up with an all new smaller Swift Dzire in the Indian market. The new Dzire is expected to carry a smaller boot so that the car can qualify for a lower excise duty segment. According to industry sources, the company is working on a new Swift platform on which it will be building new Swift hatchback and smaller size Dzire sedan.
With a length of less than 4 meters, the new Swift Dzire sedan will be attracting an excise duty of 10 percent as compared to earlier duty of 20%. The launch of new smaller size Dzire will enable the company to cut-down the price of the car, so that it can compete more promptly against the likes of Toyota Etios, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna RB, etc.
At present, the Maruti Swift Dzire sedan is available in the price bracket of Rs 4.88 lakh and 7.07 lakh. An excise duty cut of about 10 percent is likely to decrease the price of the car by up to Rs 56,000. The new short sized Dzire is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of this year.
