      Maruti K-Series Engine Production Cross 5 Lakh

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited launched its new generation K-series engine 23 months back and in nearly two years, the company has crossed production of 5 lakh units of the new engine. It produces the new engines with 998cc and 1.2L capacity where 998cc is a three cylinder engine powering Alto K10, Zen Estilo, Wagon R and A-Star. On the other hand, models like Swift Dzire, Ritz are powered by 4-cylinder 1.2L K-series engine.

      "Introduction of K-series engine in India is an example of Maruti Suzuki's commitment to take the engine technology in India to the next level. In a short span, the company has scaled up the production of K-series engine manifold," Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said.

      Maruti currently has a production capacity of 500,000 units annually and intends to expand it by further 200,000 in next two years.
