We witnessed the launch of Maruti’s much talked about B segment hatchback Celerio at the Auto Expo 2014, the hatch grabbed eyeballs due to its jaw dropping starting price of Rs 3.90 lakh. Thanks to the recently implemented excise duty cut, the hatchback now costs just Rs 3.76 lakh (for the base model ex-showroom Delhi price). With the fresh price amendments made to the newbie hatch in the B-segment, it is sure to get an influx of bookings than normally it would have gotten.
Maruti Celerio price down to Rs 3.76 lakh
Dealers started accepting bookings for Celerio before the car was uncovered at the 12th Auto Expo, however once the prices were announced the number of bookings rose remarkably. It is said that around 1000 bookings were received in a single day.
Celerio comes housed with a revised version of the 1.0 litre, three pot, K10B motor which pumps out a maximum power of 67 BHP at 6000 RPM along with a top torque of 90 Nm at 3500 RPM. An excellent fuel efficiency of 23.1 kmpl is what this hatchback is capable of delivering. The engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission, the segment-first Automated Manual Transmission is also on offer which is the main highlight of the car.
Maruti Celerio has it all to make it big in the B segment, however, it remains to be seen if the price cut will act as a catalyst in Celerio’s demand in India.
The revised prices for the new Maruti Celerio are as follows (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi price). The base version which was earlier available for Rs 3.90 lakh is now up for grabs at Rs 3.76 lakh, the AMT equipped LXi and VXi trims which were offered at Rs 4.29 lakh and Rs 4.59 lakh are now proffered at Rs 4.14 lakh and Rs 4.43 lakh, respectively.
