      Maruti Celerio CNG variant launched in India at Rs 4.92 lakh

      Just a few months after the launch of Celerio hatchback in India, the largest car maker in domestic market, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the CNG variant of the petite vehicle. During Auto Expo, Maruti inducted only petrol variant of the small car in both manual and automated manual transmissions. Christened Celerio Green, the new Celerio CNG is available for sale in India at Rs 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Rumours are also doing the rounds that after rolling of CNG variant of Celerio, Maruti is also considering to bring forth an LPG trim of the hatchback, however the company has not confirmed anything as of yet.

      MSI is offering Celerio Green in just one trim, VXi, packed with the same 1.0 litre, KNext engine that engenders a varied power output of 68 PS in petrol mode and 58 PS in CNG mode. The company is offering CNG variant of Celerio with a five-speed manual transmission only giving a miss to the popular AMT gearbox that comes in petrol trim. Celerio Green comes with the i-GPI system that was earlier seen in other models of Maruti including WagonR and Ertiga. When switched to dual mode, i-GPI streams the gas immediately into the engine’s combustion chamber. Company claims that Celerio Green returns a fuel economy of 31.79 km/kg which is much more than the 23.1 kmpl mark of the petrol variant. The suspension system of the hatchback has been modified comprehensively to be able to controvert the additional weight of the CNG cylinder.
