One car with three labels – Maruti A-Star is all set to be launched in India and across the world. Suzuki shall sell this car as Suzuki Alto in the European markets while it is christened as Martui A-Star in India. It shall be powered by the new series Kappa engine from Suzuki specifically designed for fuel efficient cars that deliver better mileage. The new K-series engine shall deliver 48kW power. The new model shall be pitted against Hyundai i10 in India and is expected to be priced between Rs. 3.5 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh in India.

Suzuki is finding it tough to keep up its growth chart across the world. Moreover, Hyundai has rapid expansion plans lined up to become the largest car manufacturer and exported in India for small cars. Maruti Suzuki has planned to launch two new models each year to keep a vast product portfolio and maintain its leadership in the country.
However, Suzuki shall record a monthly fall in worldwide car production in 40 month due to weakening demand across the globe. “The situation is getting tougher and tougher for everyone. It’s unnatural to expect a small company like ours to weather the storm when even the industry leaders are struggling,” CEO Osamu Suzuki told Reuters in an interview. The overall demand in India fell by 4.4 percent in August which is also a major concern as India is the single biggest market for the company. Maruti Suzuki India ltd. reported a net drop of 10 percent in its sales. India and Pakistan contribute towards nearly one third of Suzuki's sales across the globe.
