Shiva Shankar wrote this review after test driving the Xylo last week. We had earlier published launch photos of the car.

With the first look of the Mahindra Xylo we can conclude that the best competitor to the Innova has arrived. Xylo, even though it does remind of the Innova, impresses very much. The hatch door provided is a very good idea, and the 2498 ccm Eagle CRDe Engine promises good performance.

The dashboard of the Xylo looks well designed though the quality of plastic is not so good. The dashboard is dominated by the digital drive assist system which gives live updates of speed, gear information, direction, distance to go and even balance fuel. It truly is the centre of attraction in the cabin.

The audio system is quite an updated version. The car comes with Dual AC with ducts near the third row, so that third row passengers feel comfortable instead of feeling isolated like in other SUVs.

The seats are very comfortable and are very conducive to take rest, especially considering that the Xylo's seats go way, way back!

The on road price of the Mahindra Xylo ranges from 7.55 lac for E2, 8.08 Lac for E4, 8.82Lac for E6, to 9.26 Lac for E8.

Overall it's quite a difficult task to find technical drawbacks in the New Mahindra Xylo. The only thing, is the exterior, which may not appeal to everyone. Especially considering that it is somewhat reminiscent of the Toyota Innova.

      Road test of Xylo

Once we get into the Xylo, the first thing to notice is the space and seat comfort. There is ample space for legroom and headroom.

In the under seat storage compartments, there is an option to plug a laptop at the middle row which helps to carry on work during a comfortable journey.

The mEagle engine developed on the NEF CRDe platform is awesome and builds the confidence of having chosen the right car. The most attractive feature is the digital drive assist system. With this you can have all information about the current speed, mileage, internal and external temperature .It also indicates the probable mileage with existing fuel, which is really a appreciable thing.

All through our test drive, the engine pick up, smooth performance, and good suspension indicated that it will be a success.

After coming back from test drive, we can, in fact anybody can conclude, that the demand for New Scorpio will be reduced drastically.

Thanks to the New Mahindra Xylo.
