In a recent announcement, Mahindra & Mahindra told that its renowned Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), XUV500 has made it to the history books. The company told that its SUV has achieved a new feet by completing a journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in the shortest time. Covering a distance of 3997 km, the car now features in the Limca Book of Records for being the first SUV to achieve this feat in the shortest time. A team comprising four members from the Standard Chartered Bank commenced their journey from Kanyakumari to Leh and completed the same in approximately 62 hours 20 minutes, thereby surpassing the previous record by 10 hour 27 minutes. The car used for the purpose was XUV500 and it now holds a record for being the Fastest South-North Four-wheeler Expedition in Limca Book of Records.
Acknowledging this commendable feat, Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer for Automotive Division of Mahindra & Mahindra was quoted as saying, “It is a proud moment for us since this record further reaffirms the tough and rugged 'Mahindra DNA' of the XUV500, which is a popular and much admired brand. Since its launch in 2011, the cheetah-inspired XUV500 has carved a special niche for itself and proved its mettle through tough and gruelling conditions in several rallies. This time was no exception.”
He further added that “Completing a journey of 3997 km in just 62 hours is a clear validation of the XUV500's capability of handling all kinds of terrain while maintaining power-packed-performance. The team completed the journey with utmost safety and without a single incidence of breakdown. It is also testimony to the spirit of adventure of the XUV500 as well as the people who drive it so passionately. Unmatched in terms of style, performance, safety and comfort thereby providing a complete driving experience, the XUV500 has reached new heights with this achievement.”
This is not the first time that Mahindra XUV500 has got any such award as it has previously received many such accolades. Till now, the famous SUV of Mahindra has won 22 awards from industry experts and reputed organisations. XUV500 has also featured as the most reputed auto brand in the Reputation Benchmark Study carried out by Bluebytes. While in 2011, it was crowned as the third most searched vehicle on Google India.
Riding on the good show of XUV500, Mahindra recently introduced a low-cost W4 variant of the SUV at quite an aggressive price tag. Equipped with a powerful 2.2-litre engine and best-in-class features, the W4 variant enticed the price sensitive India buyers. At present, the car still maintains its steady position in the India car market owing to its brand value and market presence. In the SUV segment, the car features among the segment leaders like Tata Safari and Toyota Innova.
