      Mahindra Two Wheelers to focus on South Indian markets

      Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. (MTWL), communicated its affirmation to enhance its presence in the South Indian market, recently, at the inauguration of Alfa Motors dealership at Bangalore. The idea of leaving an imprint in the IT capital of India catapulted from the overwhelming demand for the Mahindra Centuro motorcycle. The company has already received over 70000 bookings within 4 months of its launch. This expansion has been planned by the company in its quest, to become the leading pan-Indian two wheeler manufacturer.

      "Mahindra Two Wheelers is rapidly gaining market share in the highly competitive commuter segment with the introduction of the Mahindra Centuro. Our focus now is to expand the reach of sales and service across India. We already have a pan India 3S presence and will be increasing network width and depth to reach almost 2000 touch points by F15. This network will not only give customers access to our products and services easily but will also help us introduce our new products that are scheduled for launch over the next 30 months. The next 18 months promise to be very exciting as we journey towards market success.”, said Anoop Mathur, President Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

      At the inauguration the company bigwigs also mentioned that Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd. will come up with 3 new dealerships and one new outlet in Bangalore. These include Alfa Motors at Whitefield, Synergy at Basavangudi, Esquire Motors at Marathhalli Bridge and MSR Motors at No.1 Magadi Main Road.

      According to sources, the firm has revealed its plans till the year 2015, which are quite elaborate. Mahindra Two Wheelers has a target of operating on a large scale in Southern India, wherein it plans to establish over 500 outlets. Nothing has been finalised by the firm in terms of networking partners but an action is likely to be taken soon. Reports claim that the firm is working hard on training employees who will be working in these outlet. Aspects like sales management, spare parts, business systems, service and customer assurance will be covered in this training module. Overall, the firm will be aiming at giving customers a best-in-class experience in terms of pre and post ownership of the model.

      Technology is one of key components of the firm's plans and something that it has included in its products. Notably, Mahindra Centuro, the recently launched bike, comes with a number of innovative features that improve overall performance of the bike. Functions like anti-theft alarm with engine immobiliser, Find Me Lamp and encrypted remote flip key have been included in a bike for the first time in India. In addition, this bike boasts of indicators for digital dashboard with distance–to-empty (DTE), service reminder and economy mode. Due to all these features, Centuro has become one of the shining stars of the market, registering tremendous sales figures for an extended period.

      Speaking on Mahindra Centuro, Dharmendra Mishra, Vice President Sales & Customer Care at Mahindra Two Wheelers, said, "Strong customer demand for the Centuro has prompted us to expand our retail network in Bengaluru and the southern region. With its segment-first innovations and competitive pricing, the Centuro has proven to be a big hit among Indian two wheeler buyers. Our expanded reach will ensure that more of our customers will gain access to this motorcycle, as well as our other products.”

      Meanwhile, Mahindra Two Wheelers have been quite active if expansion plans into global markets are taken into account. The company has recently forayed into the Latin American countries with its product offerings that include Duro DZ, Pantero and Centuro. With this, the company has now expanded its presence to 11 markets spread across South Asia, Africa, Middle-East and Latin America. As reported, the company is planning to revamp its infrastructure in foreign markets by setting up new sales service outlets and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly plants in Guatemala City and Managua apart from expanding its dealer network. The company also told that it would expand its presence in other markets as well during the future course of action.
