Launched in September 2015, the Mahindra TUV300 is turning out to be a runaway success for the home-grown carmaker in India. The compact SUV has outsold its closest rival – Ford EcoSport – for the second month in a row. While Mahindra managed to sell 4,551 units of the TUV300, Ford retailed 3,417 units of EcoSport in October, 2015. Though, the margin is narrowed down to 37 units compared to the previous month. In September, the TUV300 with sales of 4,313 units outsold the Ford EcoSport that had registered a total sale of 3,142 units. The major reasons behind the success of the TUV300 are its robust body-built, strong off-road capabilities, and most importantly a cabin with lots of features.

Prices for the Mahindra TUV300 start from Rs. 6.90 lakh for the base model, and go up to Rs. 9.12 lakh for top-of-the-line variant. The compact SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk80 turbocharged diesel engine that is equipped with Micro hybrid technology and a start-stop system. These technologies aid to the performance and fuel efficiency of the vehicle, and lower its carbon emissions. This powertrain is claimed to return a mileage of 18.49km/l, and delivers 84bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Transmission options on offer are a five-speed manual and an AMT (automated manual transmission).

The base variant of the vehicle is equipped with a power steering, digital immobilizer, power windows, HVAC, ECO mode, tiltable steering and optional dual airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS). While the top-end model comes with several advanced features such as Intellipark reverse assist, static bending headlamps, lumber support, dual airbags, etc.
