Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to take a minority stake in the Italian car designing firm, Stile Berton. Stile Berton is renowned automotive style company that has designed models like Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Ferrari, etc.
There is no official report from the company and senion Mahindra are not ready to give out more details than necessary. “It’s up for sale, and they have earlier designed some vehicles for us,” is all what Pawan Goenka had to comment on the rumors.
Stile Berton is a Turin based Italian car designing company that had been founded by Giovanni Bertone in1914. It has been up for sale ever since his son Nuccio BErtone died in 1997. His widow, Lili Bertone has already sold the company earlier to Domenico Reviglio of Gruppo Prototipo. The deal was cancelled by the court subsequently due to legal issued involved.
The Italian designer had designed some of the most distinctive cars in past like Daewoo Espero, Open Astra, Simca 1200S coupe, Volvo 780 Coupe and Citreon BX. The new business venture shall give M&M a competitive edge in technologies and skill sets. It shall also be able to enhance its product development by utilizing the designers and engineers from the western world. It shall also lend a European footprint to the company.
