Mahindra Two Wheelers recently confirmed that the association between Mahindra and Peugeot will be completed by February and thus there will be no further Mahindra branding on Peugeot products. However, the alliance will still permit Peugeot to work separately in India. Mahindra Two Wheelers, which is part of $16.5-billion Mahindra Group, said on Thursday (January 8) that the lately-acquired Peugeot motor vehicle brand of France will now have its self-governing identity in India. While the two-wheelers of Mahindra will provide to the mass section, the brand of Peugeot will service the best part.

Chief of Operations of Mahindra Two Wheelers, Viren Popli, said, “I don’t think we are going to create a Mahindra product that looks like Peugeot. We will let Peugeot be a Peugeot and Mahindra be a Mahindra. Both will be different in positioning and Peugeot will be an independent brand.” Popli reveals that he is looking forward for the completion of contract by February. He said, “Peugeot deal is in progress and there are some anti-trust documentation to be completed. We expect to clear all the hurdles by January end or February first week.”

Meanwhile, in October last year, Mahindra Group had announced that it will get a 51% of stake in the French two-wheeler brand Peugeot Motorcycles, whereas entrusting a full amount deal of 28 million Euros, or about Rs 216 crore, to their new and promising joint venture.
