The Scorpio SUV from Mahindra and Mahindra has been one of the oldest SUV in country. Mahindra Scorpio has been ruling the tarmac within the city as well as remote areas from a long time. Recently, the Scorpio brand had also bagged the honours’ for being the highest selling SUV in the country. News has been doing rounds stating that Mahindra shall launch the facelifted version of Scorpio sometime soon. On a couple of occasions the face-lifted version of the SUV has also been spotted undergoing tests. The company has neither spoken about the pricing aspect nor has revealed the launch dates, but it is anticipated that the facelifted version may be launched sometime ahead of festive season this year.
The company has announced special discounts of about Rs. 60,000 on Scorpio SUV as part of its monsoon offers. The open for all discount scheme comes a month after Mahindra had announced special discounts for bank employees. The latest offer is valid till 31st July and interested buyer may avail of this discount facility during this period.
As for the upcoming facelifted version changes are expected to be purely cosmetic in nature and the engine shall be retained with the existing line of 2.2 litre M-Hawk turbo diesel engine. It is anticipated that the power and torque figures could be increased from the existing 120 bhp with 290 Nm of torque to 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque. The SUV may also get six speed automatic transmission this time apart from the existing five speed manual gearbox. The suspension may be worked upon to deliver a smoother ride quality at the rear and aid with improved handling.
The interiors may receive new upholstery in fabric and come with leather options to make it look a bit more up-market and stylish. Interesting features like start-stop system, steering mounted controls, Bluetooth with USB and aux-in connectivity have been included as a standard feature. The AC vents may also be redesigned for better cooling. On the exterior, the Scorpio SUV may receive projector headlamps, daytime running lights and LED tail lamps. Unconfirmed reports from sources also state that front section may probably be designed to find some resemblance with the XUV 500.
