Mahindra is working on an SUV based on the same X100 platform that underpins Ssangyong’s Tivoli. This will be a C-segment SUV and will be Mahindra’s rival against the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna.
This new vehicle is expected to measure around 4.3 metres and will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel will be the 1.5-litre unit from the TUV300 and Nuvosport while the petrol will also be a 1.5-litre unit that Mahindra had announced last year.
This vehicle will slot in between the Scorpio and the XUV500 and is expected to have a high level of localisation to keep prices competitive. It is likely to be built in the same facility where Ssangyong locally assembles the Rexton.
