Mahindra and Mahindra is once against tied up in a dispute with Chrysler. This time it is the front grill design and shape of the new Scorpio. Speculations are doing rounds that Chrysler may take legal action against Mahindra on the issue. However, sources from M&M deny the same and quote that they had a casual conversation with Chrysler if Mahindra can do something about the design as Scorpio Grill and Jeep Wrangler grill look quite alike.

Mahindra and Chrysler were also facing each other earlier this year when Mahindra used "jeep" in its ad campaigns in South Africa. Mahindra has launched its heritage campaign in South Africa focusing Willys Jeep which was one of the most famous utility vehicles back in 1940s. Since Chrysler owns the word "Jeep", it notified Mahindra firmly that it could not use the word Jeep as its belonged to Chrysler after the year 1994. Mahindra denied using the word "Jeep" as it said that it has used "jeep" in lower case which referred to generic name for a multi-purpose vehicle. Currently the case is under scrutiny of Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa.

Mahindra needs to get a clean chit for the current dispute of front grill as it plans to launch the diesel version of its SUV Scorpio in the US. Any legal dispute or controversy may delay the launch schedule.
