Individuals planning for a renewal of their driving license should get prepared for giving an online test. According to a latest report, the transport department has made it compulsory for individuals to appear in an online test in order to get their driving license renewed. This information went on air from the office of Minister of State for Transport, Virendra Beniwal on February 21, 2013. Reportedly, he was addressing the audience at the inaugural ceremony of the new Regional Transport Office (RTO) in North Jaipur.

With this news, Rajasthan has emerged as the first state in the country to have a compulsory online test for the renewal of licenses. According to state officials, this test will ensure that individuals have sufficient knowledge of the traffic rules. Government officials believe that with this move, the happenings of road accidents will reduce. Moreover, it will ensure that if an individual has obtained the license by unfair practices and is not having enough potential to drive a vehicle, then he would not be able to pass the online test.

The newly opened RTO in northern Jaipur will cater regions like Karni Vihar, Vishwakarma, Banipark, Brahampuri, Jhotwara and few areas of Walled City. This new office will also prove beneficial for individuals residing in Kotputli, Pragpura and Shahpura.

Industry experts believe that this move of Rajasthan government will be quite effective in reducing the number of road accidents in the state. This practice should be also followed by other state governments as the number of road accidents are increasing day-by-day, with a number of accused being found without adequate driving knowledge.
