      Land Rover to develop new entry level model based on DC100 concept

      Land Rover, the Tata Motors owned British automotive company is intending to develop a new model in its leisure range planned to be positioned below its flagship SUV, Freelander, marking the entry of the company’s cheapest vehicle.

      The DC100 off-road concept vehicle showcased by the automaker at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show was earlier said to be utilized for development of the next generation Defender but now it is anticipated that the DC100 concept will be used to actualize the company’s plans of launching this entry level leisure range vehicle.

      The automaker has gauged that the demand for entry level SUVs is highly surging in all top markets of the world and introducing the DC100 concept as the next gen Defender will be able to cater the demands of the urban class only.

      Mr. John Edwards, Land Rover brand boss revealed that the new model will be based on the DC100 concept owing to high appreciation and encouragement envisaged at its debut in the last year.

      Land Rover is speeding towards expanding the range of models in its global portfolio with the target set to launch over 40 vehicles in its five year plan, where the company will also come up with a mega launch of its compact crossover SUV, Evoque in a bigger version.

      The leisure model range of the company will be directed towards incorporating more captivating looks, with finest styling and sportive appeal coupled with unmatched performance.
