Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini has launched the most hard-core version in the Huracán range, the STO - Super Trofeo Omologata - in India at Rs 4.99 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Huracán STO is a road car inspired by Squadra Corse's Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and Huracán GT3 Evo.

What is new in this STO?

Lamborghini appeared to work day and night to make this savage Huracán STO. It has utilised 75 per cent carbon fibre in the exterior panels of this STO to make it as light as a feather. The bonnet and bumper are made of a single piece using carbon fibre for greater aerodynamic efficiency and weight reduction. As a result, the Huracán STO is 20 per cent lighter, 37 per cent more airflow efficient and creates a staggering 53 per cent more downforce than the Huracán Perfomante. Additionally, Lamborghini has also used magnesium alloy wheels and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes in the sports car.

      Exterior

There is a clear distinction between other Huracán models and this extremely hard-core STO version. Firstly, the Huracán STO has been outfitted with an enormous adjustable rear wing. Meanwhile, to improve dynamics and stability, the carmaker has also added a shark fin on the rear bonnet. Moreover, Lamborghini has equipped the sports car with a revised rear bumper and fender and a new lighter windscreen too.

      Interior

There is ample carbon fibre on the inside that includes lightweight carbon fibre door panels, door latches, floor mats and sport seats. The race-car inspired cockpit is upholstered in Alacantara while there is a digital instrument cluster and a tablet-shaped infotainment touchscreen unit.

      Features

The Huracán STO comes with a host of features such as a titanium roll cage, electronic stability control with integrated ABS and TCS, multiple airbags and three new driving modes - Trofeo, STO and Pioggia.

      Engine and Transmission

The maddest Huracán STO gets the same 5,204cc naturally aspirated V10 petrol engine married to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends all the power to the rear axle. This mighty mill generates 640bhp and delivers 565Nm of torque which enables this beast to achieve zero to 100kmph in flat three seconds while the zero to 200kmph sprint takes just nine seconds.

At the launch, Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India said “The Indian market continues to be very important for Lamborghini, representing a great opportunity for us as the country is yet to unlock its complete potential in terms of size and volumes. With the launch of our latest Lamborghini Huracán STO in India, we are confident that it will appeal to a new set of customers in the super sports car segment who are looking for an emotionally charging experience of a race car’s powerful technology in everyday driving on the roads.”
