KTM, the well appreciated Austrian bike maker, has finally unveiled its 1290 Super Adventure model at the Intermot Show in Cologne, Germany. This new bike is designed on the platform of 1290 Super Duke R, however the engine has been slightly detuned. Although the bike was recently revealed during an online event, the 2014 Intermot Show comes up with its first public appearance.
1290 Super Adventure shares it’s designing from the 1190 Adventure model. Along with, 1290 Super Adventure welcomes a redesigned front cowl to adjust the new engine and bigger air vents. In order to improve its touring ability, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure features a new massive 30-litre fuel tank, adjustable windshield and heated seats.
Coming to its technical specifications, the 1290 Super Adventure is powered by a 1301 cc V2 engine, which churns out a maximum power of 160 bhp. For the convenience of riders, the bike features switchable ride modes, hill hold control, engine drag torque control and stability control and Anti-lock Braking System. It must be noted that with all the above mentioned features, KTM has called it the world’s safest motorcycle. Industry experts are of a view that this bike will compete against Suzuki V-Strom and BMW R1200GS.
It must be noted that at the launch of RC200 and RC390, the company officials revealed that the 1290 Super Adventure and 1190 Adventure won’t be brought soon to the Indian auto market as these heavily priced bikes are not much appreciated here.
