It has been a common perception in recent times that the price of two-wheelers has been constantly increasing. This fact is mainly due to the hike in the excise duty prices. However, at such a time, when the price of motorcycles is constantly going uphill, it comes as a surprise that Kawasaki, the Japanese two-wheeler giant has decided to lower the price of one of its bikes in the country. The price of Z800 has been slashed by a margin of 55000 INR in the Indian two-wheeler market. Though the price has been reduced only for a limited time period, the price shot down is expected to bolster the sales quite significantly. As a matter of fact, the bike was available for the Indian population at 7.9 lakhs INR, but now it will be available for only 7.35 lakhs INR, where both the prices are that of ex-showroom. Incidentally, this has made the Kawasaki Z800 more affordable than the Triumph Street Triple, which is priced at 7.65 lakhs INR, by a margin of 30000 INR.

Kawasaki India declared that they were able to reduce the cost of this bike because of a cost reduction in the Thailand facility, where the manufacture of the bike takes place. However, there would not be any reduction in price for other premium bikes of this company since most of them are manufactured in Japan. The Z800 is powered by an 806 cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four way cylinder, which produces a power of 113 PS at 10200 rpm. The twisting force of this bike is 83 Nm at the rpm of 8000 rpm and is mated to a six speed transmission system. Incidentally, this allows the Z800 an advantage of 34 PS and 30 Nm over the Triumph Street Triple. Kawasaki Z800 is also among the cheapest motorcycle in this category; however, this fact might change after DSK Motowheels launches Benelli TNT 600i in the country.
