      Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R and ZX-14R launched in Pune

      Kawasaki Motors, the Japanese bike maker, has launched two new models, Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja ZX-14R, which are priced Rs. 15.7 lakh and Rs. 16.9 lakh, respectively. Kawasaki is going to bring models of these bikes as Completely Built Units (CBU) in the Indian market. In the past, two of its other models, Ninja 300 and 650R, were brought to India through the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. Industry experts believe that Kawasaki is going to benefit a lot from its collaboration with Bajaj Auto in boosting sales of these bikes.

      Yuji Horiuchi, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors (IKM), believes that the new launches are going to work out well in the Indian market just like the previous models. IKM has plans to introduce such launches in India in coming times. The firm believes that the market for sports bikes is booming and they would like to contribute to it. According to sources, the firm's target is to capture 20% of the market share by 2015. Presently, IKM has set a target of selling 100 units of these models per annum. These bikes will be sold at a standalone store of Kawasaki. This exclusive showroom at Wakdewadi, Pune, will be inaugurated on September 7th, 2013 and bookings have already begun from 5th September. The Ninja ZX10R and ZX-14R models would be sold in Maharashtra first and sales in rest of the country would follow soon.

      The bikes are currently available in green colour only. Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R has been equipped with a 998 cc liquid cooled, four-stroke in-line engine, which features fuel injection technology. It can whiz past 100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds and can achieve a maximum speed of 290 kmph. The new bike comes with Sports-Kawasaki Transaction Control that has 3 modes with the function of an off mode too. The new Ninja has been fitted with Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-lock Braking System (KIBS) that helps reduce rear lift, resulting in efficient braking system. The suspension system is aptly designed for a smooth ride on the road. With a weight of 201 kg, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R is embellished with 1441 cc in-line four-cylinder engine, which churns out a peak power of 197 bhp at 10000 rpm.

      It is said to have beaten Suzuki Hayabusa, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3 seconds and has the ability to reach a maximum speed of 299 kmph. The bike weighs 268 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 22 litres. As the new Kawasaki Ninja has been launched in the Indian auto market, it will pose a stiff competitors from Suzuki Hayabusa, Yamaha R1 and Honda CB1000R, among others.
