      Japanese Firm Ties Up with Indian Company for Safety Systems

      Takata Corporation from Japan has signed a joint venture with Anand Automotive Systems in India to manufacture safety systems like airbags, seatbelts, steering wheels, etc. for the OEM. The new company will be Takata India Pvt. Limited which will be owned majorly by Takata, Japan.

      Takata Corp already has Takata India as its wholly owned subsidiary in India which was formed in June 2007 after getting the approval from Foreign Investment Promotion Board. It has already started setting up its manufacturing unit in Chennai and now plans to set up its second plant in India at Neemrana, near Delhi. Both plants will manufacture seatbelts, airbags and steering wheels, and will cater to the Indian domestic automobile companies.

      The Indian counterpart, Anand Automotives, manufactures shock absorbers, filter systems, engine components, drivetrain products, exhaust systems, climate control & engine cooling systems, brakes, friction materials and adhesives, among others. It has 42 manufacturing facilities in India with an extensive customer base in OE and aftermarket.

      Both the companies hold their superb expertise in their fields and as the demand for the safety systems continue to grow, they expect to mark a success story together.
