"We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably, and able to offer our premium products to a whole new group of customers," a JLR statement said. "It is an important strategic move for Jaguar Land Rover and will enable us to realise our competitive potential in this significant market," JLR chief executive David Smith said in the statement.

The new dealership will be located at the Ceejay House in Worli and the import of the cars will be looked after the new division of luxury cars owned by Tata Motors. The car will be imported as completely built units in India and hence will be highly priced due to high duty structure in India. Tata Motors had acquired these two brands last year in March from Ford Motors for 1.7 billion pounds.
