      Jaguar Land Rover declares its record worldwide sales

      Jaguar Land Rover has announced its record global sales performance in 2012 with a growth of 30 per cent. The luxury car maker witnessed a brilliant demand in the auto markets of China, UK and US. Jaguar Land Rover, which happens to be the UK’s leading premium auto maker, has also declared to create around 800 new job opportunities at its state-of-the-art production plant in Solihull, UK. Reportedly, the increased workforce will support the new launch programme of the auto company throughout the 2013.

      Interestingly, China happens to be the auto maker’s largest auto market, wherein it delivered the record sales figures in 2012 with a growth of 71 per cent at 71,940 units. The sales figures were then followed by UK with 19 per cent growth at 68,333 units. In USA, Jaguar Land Rover sold 55,675 units with an expansion of 11 per cent, whereas in Russia and Germany, the company marked an increase of 43 per cent and 41 per cent with 20,549 and 16,722 units, respectively.

      At the sidelines of North American International Motor Show in Detroit, the Director of Group Sales Operations, Jaguar Land Rover, Phil Popham said, “2012 has been a strong year for Jaguar Land Rover with record breaking sales performance globally. All of our key markets saw strong progress, with demand for our premium vehicles setting new records in a very competitive environment. Looking ahead to 2013, we are continuing to invest in our business to support our ambitious plans for growth and we will be introducing eight new or refreshed products throughout the year.”

      During 2012, Land Rover registered a strong sales performance in 177 markets with growth of 36 per cent in its worldwide retail sales. The top 5 markets of the company were China, UK, US, Russia and Italy, which together accounted for 65 per cent of sales. A brilliant performance was delivered by Range Rover Evoque of which 108,598 units were delivered. Land Rover also witnessed a strong demand from its Discovery 4/LR4 model, whose sales went up by 3 per cent, Range Rover Sport expanded by 4 per cent and initial deliveries of all-new Range Rover have also started.

      Expressing his views on the sales performance of Land Rover, Global Brand Director John Edwards quoted, “2012 was an excellent year for Land Rover; we delivered a powerful global performance throughout the year across all markets, with the highlight being that we have sold more vehicles this year than ever before in our 65 year history. Our updated model line-up and the debut of the new Range Rover have created a real buzz around the brand with customers clearly delighted with our offerings.”

      In 2012, the sales of Jaguar increased by 6 per cent under the review of figures reported in year-ago period. The company’s geographic reach and product portfolio has been expanded with the launch of XF 2.2 Diesel, XF and XJ 3.0 litre engines and the incorporations of several new derivatives, comprising the XF Sportbrake. The XF model continues to perform well, with a worldwide increase of 13 per cent. Besides, the launch of new XJ and XF All Wheel Drive are well appreciated on the global platform, mainly in the auto markets of US.

      Speaking on the sales performance of Jaguar, Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark quoted, “This year saw the completion of a revitalised Jaguar line-up. We now have a very strong desirable range of products which are clearly capturing the public's imagination. We plan to continue growing in 2013 with the stunning new F-TYPE.”
