Reports have claimed that a woman of Indian origin, aged 29, who is from South Africa, is slated to be involved in the conceptualisation and production of the fastest car in the world. A resident of Port Elizabeth, Beverly Singh will be joining a team of engineers in the United Kingdom for this ambitious project. A mechanical engineer by profession, Singh has earned widespread appreciation in South Africa along with being recognised by certain Indian tabloids as well.

The news of this car being produced has caused a lot of excitement among automobile enthusiasts all around the world. Called the Bloodhound supersonic as of now, this car is being built in Bristol, United Kingdom, by around 30 engineers, who are working at a high technology centre. According to sources, the Bloodhound supersonic car is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in 2015 for a number of test rounds, which will be conducted over a few months. During this time, the makers would be looking to cross the sound barrier and also the present top land speed, which is 1228 kmph. It is being said that the firm would be looking to top the current record speed by around 30 per cent, clocking around 1609 kmph. These scheduled runs and tests are slated to be held in Hakskeenpan, which is located in the Northern Cape Province.

Notably, Beverly Singh completed her Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of West of England, where she won the coveted Bloodhound Chevening Scholarship. She is scheduled to join the team of engineers, which will include people from companies like Boeing and Rolls Royce, in the month of September. This team, working in Bristol, is currently involved in the assembling of the Bloodhound supersonic car.

Understandably, Singh is really excited to work on such an ambitious project. In an interview, she spoke about her feelings and what she wants to do. "I am so excited. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The engineers working on the Bloodhound are the best in the world in their fields. I always wanted to do something like this," she said. To join the supersonic car project in Bristol, Beverly Singh has left her current job as a process engineer in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Expected to fly to Bristol in a time of few weeks, Singh also said that she would be focusing on her studies along with participating in the Bloodhound project.
