Hyundai Creta has taken a good start in the Indian market. The Korean carmaker reportedly sold about 6,783 units in just about a month since launch, thereby making the best ever for SUV sales in India. Speaking more on the occasion, Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said, “We have got just the kind of started we were aspiring for with the Creta. We advanced the launch of the car from September to July as we wanted to take the initiative. Now our problem is to make enough cars and keep the waiting period in check. The customer is very demanding in this segment.”
Hyundai's Creta has emerged in straight line of competition against the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano, wherein Duster reportedly sold about 1194 units, Ecosport 4715 units and Terrano 3079 units. Owing to a huge rush in demand, the Creta SUV has been on waiting period period for nearly about 6-8 months. And with the increase in the production the waiting period is likely to come down by about two months. The company has also reportedly seen an increase in demand for the petrol variant in the SUV segment as against earlier times when diesel trims were being preferred. The probable reason for this would be the reducing gap between the fuel prices in the country. With the increase in production, it is anticipated that Hyundai may further witness a rise in the demand for the vehicle.
