Hyundai, the Korean Automaker has been successful with its wide range of hatchback and sedans, but in the recent past sales seem to have nearly stopped for its off-beaten SUV named 'Santa Fe' in the Indian market. The car made its presence on Indian soil around 6 years back but never really kicked off. In an attempt to revive this SUV, Hyundai has come with an all new Santa Fe. The car is slated to be showcased in the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo. Its first preview was seen at the 2013 Detroit Auto show.

As per reports, the new version imbibes a Fluidic-derived Storm edge design philosophy. The SUV shall be powered by the same 2.2 liter diesel engine that produces an impressive 194 bhp with a torque output of 436 Nm. Two-wheel drive/Four-wheel drive pattern shall be available with an option to choose from Automatic transmission or Manual Transmission.

The interior in the Santa Fe is stated to be based on fluidic design. It features a GPS device, leather seats, sunroof and a convenient start-stop system for the engine. Legroom for the rear seats have also been worked upon and can seat up to three people with ease. The interiors look elegant with generous use of beige.

On the exterior front, the Santa Fe features a bolder-looking grill and the headlights are mated to flow through its sides. The sides also feature a smooth contour bringing out the Fluidic design at its best. The SUV's teardrop-shaped fog lamps are integrated into the front bumpers. Reports also state that, the new Santa Fe shall be around 9 centimetre long wheelbase as compared to the older model. Single-sided quad shaped exhaust at the rear has been retained along with a large bash plate. The car now features a smaller glass pane between the C and D pillar.

The Hyundai Santa Fe shall be locally assembled and is expected to sell-off at a price of anything around 24 – 27 lakhs. With this fresh launch, Hyundai intends on positioning itself directly against Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Nissan X-Trail and Ssangyong RX7. The technical specifications for the Santa Fe shall be more-or-less the same, the changes done to it is primarily cosmetic and provides good cabin space.
