Hyundai Elite i20 reaches dealerships ahead of launch on August 11

Local arm of South Korean auto maker, Hyundai is all set for global debut of new Elite i20 in India on August 11, 2014. It has been learnt from close sources that Hyundai has started dispatching new Elite i20 to dealerships ahead of its launch. The new version will replace current version, Hyundai has even removed the hatchback from its official website and has also stopped production of the vehicle to make way for upcoming Elite i20. As the new name suggests, Elite i20 is claimed to be bigger, classier and better than its predecessor.

Apart from enhanced dimensions, the vehicle will offer improved NVH levels (Noise, Vibration and Harshness levels). The new range will not have basic trim, Era as it has been removed from the new Elite i20 range. The entry level trims will get 14 inch alloy wheels as standard option while the high end trims will come fitted with 16 inch alloy wheels. Among the features missing in high end Asta variant include airbags that have been reduced from previous six to only two for the driver and co-passenger. Other than this, the posh sunroof and disc brake will also be missing in the Asta (O) trim.

New features such as in-built service indicator on the reworked multi-information display and steering position indicator have been embedded inside the cabin. A new Bluetooth system will also be introduced in the hatch, the high end variant is likely to get music system with in-built storage capacity of 1GB and four speakers. Automatic variant is speculated to be missing initially, also the company will offer one petrol and one diesel engine option for now. The petrol engine will be the 1.2 litre motor and diesel range will get 1.4 litre diesel powertrain. Though there is no change in the engine set up, but these have been tuned to deliver increased fuel economy.
